Charleston has been through a number of storms. Not only the hurricanes, but the Revolutionary War, Civil War, the earthquakes, fires, etc. These storm painting were done to represent the "storms" Charleston has endured over the centuries. The uncontrolled waves and wind represent the storms, but the homes are still standing and remain strong even with all the chaos surrounding them.
